what is best for a 15 year old?

Question by Psycho chiquita: what is best for a 15 year old?
im the teenager here and i was wondering what would be best for me. i was just checking to see what most teenagers now a days seem to be stuck on technology and it sickens me. yes this is my laptop but my parents use it mostly because it doesn’t interest me. already have a flatscreen and plenty of clothes i dont wear. i have a 360 but im going through techno therapy. the only technology thing i use and that’s left is my cell phone. im mostly interested in playing my piano, oil pastel painting, poetry writing, book writing, sports, cars, motorcycles, hunting, fishing, camping, astrology, cooking, working at my fathers video game store, and just, simple things. the one thing i want the most is a wooden dollhouse, but that surprised the crap out of my parents and they refused so… help?

p.s. i hate twilight, jonas brothers, hannah Montana, hot topic, makeup, shopping, ipods, pink,… and my behold got stolen so no way im getting a cell phone.

Q&A: Do I need a fishing license if I live in Ohio and plan on releasing everything that I catch?

Question by sadfjkl: Do I need a fishing license if I live in Ohio and plan on releasing everything that I catch?
The regulations state that “A fishing license is required to take fish, frogs, or turtles from Ohio waters”. I’m not taking any, am I still required to have a license?

yes- you are still fishing and a license is required. Just pay the fee and save the fine and possible jail time.

do guys think it’s weird that?

Question by soccer lover 4 life: do guys think it’s weird that?
ok, so most guys think of me as just a friend. to them i’m just “one of the guys” here’s why.

i’m a huge tomboy. like you will never see me in a skirt/dress, makeup, nails done, or hair done. my hair is almost always pulled back. i play sports, i go hunting, fishing, camping, and i’m the kind of person you call when there’s a spider around. i carry a pocketknife everywhere and i believe duct tape fixes everything! i don’t really ever act like a girl. i’m strong and i can hold my own against a guy.

the guys around here seem to think dating me as weird since i’m such a “guy” and i was wondering if that’s true

i will NEVER change to be accepted, or to get a guy, but i would like to know what you think about it
ya the pocketknife EVERYWHERE isnt totally true. when i’m doing something outdoors (hunting fishing etc) i have it with me. when im like hanging out with friends, i leave it at home

Glad you had a good time! There is a huge amount of outdoor merchandise in that store; and, I am particularly impressed with the thousands and thousands of fishing tackle items they stock. (Are there actually that many fish in Pennsylvania?) Those big ‘n beautiful fish tanks are, also, not to be missed; but, my own interest is mainly in guns; and I couldn’t help, but, notice that Cabela’s firearms prices are, …… well, obscene!

Q&A: Good inflatable kayak for ocean and fresh water fishing?

Question by Anonymouse: Good inflatable kayak for ocean and fresh water fishing?
I’m looking for a good inflatable kayak that I can use in both the ocean and lakes/rivers in semi-harsh conditions when needed. I’m 6’4 220 so it needs to be big and have storage for fishing and camping gear. Looking to spend around $ 500, but don’t hesitate to recommend something more expensive, I want to look at all my options. So far this is what I’ve found that looks pretty good to me and is probably what I will get unless someone can recommend something better, http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Elements-Frame-Expedition-Inflatable/dp/B000O3AVNY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1290104730&sr=1-1

That AE boat would not be that safe for you in “semi-harsh” coastal conditions. First off, these are very wide and flatbottomed. They are slow to paddle, tend to windcock and do not track well — these are not characteristics you want when you could be caught in strong wind and waves. You could easily be swept out from shore and have a difficult time getting back in. Also, despite what the makers say, these boats do NOT have a lot of storage space. They are really more of a recreational toy for inland waters.

I own several models of kayaks including a couple of combination frame and inflatables and have used and owned a number of others. I think the best bang for the buck are the Pakboats.

http://www.pakboats.com

There is one dealer who sells them on Ebay and the REI stores are also dealers. We have an XT-15 but there are several other models – the Puffin series is a bit cheaper but all use the same technology and materials. They are very easy to set up and very strong, with a ladder aluminum frame as well as the inflatable tubes that shape the skin. You can use them with the spray deck on like a full kayak or take it off and use them as more of a C-1 type open boat. Unlike the inflatables like Advanced Element, Sevylor, Innova and other full inflatables, the Pakboats have tons of storage space and are easy to paddle quickly and they track well, almost as well as a high-quality rigid hard boat. The seats are incredibly comfortable and adjustable. And the 16′ Saranac, though longer than the AE and with more cargo room, weighs 28 lbs, which 15 pounds less than the AE.

You will pay from $ 700 to over $ 1000 for one but the performance difference is like night and day. i was turned on to these kayaks by a guy who is a fishing guide — he has used them for years in Alaska and Patagonia and says they are bombproof. We’ve been really pleased with the performance of the one we got last Spring — it is as comfortable, fast and rugged as my $ 4,000 Feathercraft Wisper folding kayak (which. like the Pakboats, has inflatable sponsons as well as an aluminum frame). This is a kayak I would not hesitate to take in open ocean. It is very stable in wind and chop yet you can paddle straight and fast in it. Very easy to set up and take down and you can access gear stored in it just by pealing back the top deck, like the tonneau cover on a truck bed.

There are a few YouTube videos of the Pakboats in the water if you want to search them out.
