Q&A: Should BP and other oil companies have less regulations on their oil rigs?

Question by Romantic Pragmatist: Should BP and other oil companies have less regulations on their oil rigs?
After all isn’t having any regulations on business – having “big government” as some people claim and that would be bad would it not? After all as certain politicians of certain political parties like the republicans and libertarians and their supporters say – having regulations for things like safety and the environment ruins competition and business. So if some beaches and fishing trade gets ruined, people and animals die – this is just a cost of doing business and isn’t oil companies making billions of dollars/pounds and making record profits more important than those other things? Besides that, isn’t everyone who thinks about safety and the environment – commie nazi liberals?

No. A lack of regulation is why there are no valves in place to shut this oil off in the first place. They were also cutting corners on safety.

Sometimes regulation can work in a good way.

Question by kentsucksass: Rules and regulations for bringing fish across states?
I was planning to go to NY for vacation. If i saw some fish i liked i was planning on bringin it back. /so if i was to get a $ 25 discus how would i bring it on a plane back to california. do i need to pay a tax? am i even allowed to? Where would i put it? With me on carry-on or in some hold?

Before the 9/11 Attacks and the aftermath of increased airplane security, I had on a couple occasions caught wild fish and brought them back in small Tupperware containers with great success. However, after the increased security measure, I highly doubt you would be able to have that kind of carry on luggage with their being liquid involved…

As long as you weren’t getting a restricted tropical fish, like a snakehead I do not see why you couldn’t bring it back with you. You didn’t mention what state you are in, but most states allow most tropical fish, but some states particularly southern ones, have much more restrictions. I do not think you would need to pay a tax.

What are the regulations regarding bringing betta fish from US to Canada?

Question by : What are the regulations regarding bringing betta fish from US to Canada?
I live in Canada and recently lost my two betta fish. I now have an empty 10 gallon and want to get a new one. I was looking into some fin varieties that I can’t find in Canada (halfmoon, double-tail, etc) and know that the Petco in Bellingham might have some. Are there any specific regulations that could prohibit me from taking a day trip to Petco, and then bringing a fish back into Canada?

Best answer:

Answer by Rupert E
Your not supposed to bring plants, animals and certian foods across the border because they may contain diseases that are not found in canada now so they don’t want them being brought here and causing an out break in the plant and animal populations here.
